On October 23rd, Balmaseda celebrates the grand day of its patron, San Severino, with the popular Putxeras Contest. From the early hours of the morning, groups gather around the Church of San Severino to prepare the traditional bean stew in a festive atmosphere. Balmaseda's Putxeras Contest is the oldest of its kind.
