It is not the highest peak in the region but it may be the most important. Mount Kolitza deserves its own entity among the summits of Enkarterri: its 879 meters of altitude offers an impressive 360-degree panorama of Balmaseda and the surrounding valleys.

For this reason, one of the five mountainous forests of Bizkaia was designated. From its clear top, crowned by a Romanesque hermitage, General Meetings of Gernika were called for centuries through bonfires and hints of bugle.
