The Basque Country Mining Museum

A journey through the history of mining

Amidst amazing views of the old Concha II Mine, the Basque Country Mining Museum guides the visitor through the turbulent history of a bygone world and the impressive panoramas that gave this land a name and a strong identity.

The museum, located in the Gallarta district (Abanto-Zierbena), keeps alive the memory of the mine and of those who worked in the heart of the open-pit fields that covered the region. The museum has one of the largest collections of mining tools, artefacts and documents in the world, and is devoted to the study, promotion and dissemination of the culture and history of mining in the Basque Country
