The stalactites sprout at whim, taking on the strangest of shapes. The spectace inside Pozalagua Cave is beyond comparison; unique in the world.
The Pozalagua Cave is located amid the peaks of Ranero, within the Nature Park of Armañon, in the municipality of Karrantza. The stalactites sprout at whim, taking on the strangest of shapes. The spectace inside Pozalagua Cave is beyond comparison; unique in the world. The so-called "eccentric" stalactites seem to defy gravity and intertwine in every possible direction.
The tour lasts about an hour and shows a vivid, bewitching space where groundwater runs free under the galleries. The prime concentration of eccentric stalactites can be seen in the stunning Versailles Hall. The itinerary leads to a vantage point of the imposing gallery—a vivid definition of magnificence and grandeur.
Discovered by chance in 1957 when a close-by quarry was being blasted, Pozalagua was opened to the public in 1991. The exploration of the cave is done through a metal footbridge with handrails at both sides.
