Zalla Town Hall

Originally a tower-house, the Zalla Town Hall building has been transformed throughout the centuries and now resembles a classical palace more than a fortified complex.
With a rectangular floor plan and an imposing contour, this Baroque palace originally acted as a defensive post. It lies within a tree-covered garden in Mimetiz district – now the nerve centre of town – and expands over an area of one hectare, or 2.5 acres.
The three-storey building shows a splendid shield over the main entrance – a representation of a moustached face flanked by two lions with a human head. The palace has undergone a series of restorations and now houses the Town Hall building.
