An oasis between mineral, debris and limestone

This municipality within the province of Bizkaia lies on the plan in the Somorrostro valley which, together with other places like Gallarta and the valley of Trápaga/Trapagaran, make up the province's mining area.
Long before Ortuella existed, some of its neighbouring localities existed, places like Urioste and Nocedal, which are now considered historic.
This deeply rooted tradition is reflected in the landscape, because there are many traces of the work developed in this sector all over centuries. There are traces of mines in which miners worked in the past, mines that form a very singular landscape.
